COVID-19 Measures at ChLA Meeting June 2023

Dear friends,

You probably know that President Biden plans to end COVID-19 national emergency policies on May 11. But while policies are shifting to treat the virus as an endemic threat rather than a pandemic, COVID-19 risk to personal and public health persists. ChLA is committed to providing a safe environment for everyone attending the conference. After deliberation and research, and with guidance from the Accessibility Committee and those planning the conference, the Executive Board has decided to require masks at all conference events. Masks will be required except when presenting, eating or drinking. Masks will be readily available at the ChLA registration desk. Those with medical conditions that preclude masking should contact us ([email protected]) for an exemption. We recognize that masking can make communication more difficult for those with hearing or other challenges, and we will continue to stress best practices for accessibility at panels and other events (such as use of microphones, accessibility copies of papers, and accessible visuals).

We also recommend that conference attendees be vaccinated and boosted, and that attendees test for COVID before arrival at the conference.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in person, and hope that these protocols will provide
some measure of protection for our community.
