Courses offered:
ENG 5388: Studies in Literature for Children or Adolescents.
A study of contemporary works, extending the student’s knowledge of the literature and criticism in the field.  Typical emphases are generic and/or thematic and include picture books, the contemporary novel, and the children’s classics on film.  Recent and upcoming emphases include Contemporary Adolescent Literature, Developments in Children’s Literature since 1940, Folklore and Fantasy in Children’s and Adolescent Literature, and Sexuality in Literature for Children and Adolescents.  Repeatable with different emphases for up to nine hours of English credit.

ENG 5389 History of Children’s Literature
The history of children’s literature from the Middle Ages through 1940, offered in two segments: Medieval through 1849 and The Golden Age: 1850-1940.  May be repeated with different emphases for up to six hours of graduate credit.

Children’s literature content is often included in other graduate courses offered by children’s literature faculty.
