Children's Literature

Children's Literature is the annual publication of the Children's Literature Association and the Modern Language Association Division on Children's Literature. The journal seeks to publish theoretically based articles that demonstrate an awareness of key issues and criticism in children’s literature. Articles are reviewed blind by outside readers, and most articles undergo several revisions before final publication.  The editors publish eight to ten full-length articles (20-30pp), five to seven book reviews, and abstracts of dissertations of note. Some volumes also include a Varia section of shorter essay. The average issue size is 300 pages Print ISSN is 0092-8208.

Volumes of Children’s Literature are provided annually to members of the Children’s Literature Association as part of membership. Membership information is available online at www.childlitassn.org or send a request for information to the following address:

Note that effective January 1, 2004, volume 32 (2004) of Children’s Literature and all future volumes will only be printed in soft cover and will only be available as part of membership subscription to the Children’s Literature Association. Single issue purchase is only available on past year volumes and availability is limited to volumes remaining in print. See below for ordering details.

Back IssuesThe Johns Hopkins University Press publishes volumes of Children’s Literature for the ChLA, but orders need to be placed directly through the ChLA’s central office.
